3COM NBX Digital T1 and Analog Setup
Recently I was presented with a problem. We needed to be able to use our digital T1 for Voice traffic and an Analog card for Fax traffic. We installed the new T1 and everything on the voice side fell right into place. The Analog lines were another issue. We needed to be able to grab an Analog line to fax with and route all incoming faxes to a hunt group that would roll if one line was busy. By modifying the dial plan I was able to configure the system to use the Analog ports if someone dialed an 8 before dialing the fax number. Here is a sample of how I did it. I installed the Analog card and let the system detect it. I assigned internal extension to the 4 ports on the card. Then in the dial plan | Extension Lists, I added the Analog card internal extensions to the 8 Pool (this enables the dial 8 to get an outside line to these ports only). I then created a Linear Hunt Group that included my Analog extesions, this creates an order in which the fax servers answer in, if one is busy, the hunt group passes the call to the next in line.
Thanks.
